The Penny Gaff shanties make up an ongoing project, involving music, writing, and performance.

It's something of a research project, retelling and reworking ephemera and stories of London's 'Penny Gaff Cinemas', the precursor to large-scale film exhibition that came with 1920s 'Picture Palace' cinemas. The Penny Gaffs,  from the mid 1900s to the early 1910s, were cinemas, theatres, poetry exhibitions, and much more.

They were cheap, open, and stained with politics.
